How to apply to the WLHS
Do You want to distinguish yourself from other students when applying to colleges and build your resume? Then apply for the World Language Honor Society!
This year you will need to complete 2 requirements:
1. An application, available in the World Language office. Please see Mrs. Gehrken or your language teacher.
2. A short essay where you are going to write a personal statement that clearly and thoroughly addresses the following topics:

Your interest in the language and culture with specific experiences and examples.

What makes you a good representative of the world language department through explicit examples of your good character, leadership, honesty, service and cooperation.
Qualifications for Membership

At the time of application you must currently be in Spanish or French level 3 or higher, or Italian or Latin level 2 or higher. You must also be signed up for the next level of your language for this upcoming school year.

At the time of application you must have an average of 90 or above in your World Language class and have a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.00 or higher.

This application is due by 2:32 p.m. on the 4th Friday in May to be handed in to your current teacher IN PERSON; no electronic submissions will be accepted.

You will be expected to commit to 8 hours of community service related to the WLHS after provisional acceptance to the program. Upon completion of approved hours a student is officially accepted. Options for community service can be found on the world language website. Examples include peer tutoring during frees or after school; classroom assistant, community projects, etc.

Your application will be reviewed by a panel of teachers and administrators who will determine your eligibility anonymously.

Only 1 application per student regardless of the number of languages taken.
